About Us | More Info
We are George W. Martin and Ann Marie Abril-Martin. George knew Angus MacDonald since he was just a kid learning to play the bagpipes and George has been playing now for more than 36 years! Owning Wee Hoose has been a lifelong dream of George's. I am George's wife.  My name is Ann Marie and together we are the new owners of Wee Hoose of Supplies!

George is the music expert. He can tell you what kind of reed to put into what kind of chanter to make it all sound right. He has been Pipe Major of Taggart Pipes and Drums since 1990.  George also runs a little bagpipe ensemble called Scotch On The Rocks (SOTR) which consists of 3 bagpipers, a snare and a bass drummer.  Additionally, he has put together a small Celtic folk group called Clan Rutherglen, named for Rutherglen, the oldest Royal Burgh in Scottland that lies on the outskirts of Glasgow which where his family comes from.  All total, George has been playing bagpipes for almost 39 years!

I am the one behind the scenes, working on the web site, managing inventory, etc. I am also the bass drummer for Taggarts and SOTR.  Although my background doesn't include anything Irish or Scottish, I am first generation Cuban-American and that, George says, is the reason why I play bass drum so well.  It's my internal sense of rhythm!  When George and I got together, I would follow George to every parade, festival and games and since there wasn't much for me to do, I would keep myself busy knitting or doing Sudoku.  After a while I came to the conclusion that there was only so many things to knit and only so many Sudoku puzzles a person could do so I decided to get more involved.  While George and another bagpiper were practicing with one of our snare drummers, I asked them if they would like for me to 'just keep beat on the bass'.  Well, after one set they all looked at each other and said - in unison - I think we have a new bass drummer!  That was about 10 years ago and today because of my inability to stand still while playing, my nickname is 'the dancing bass drummer'!
